Mrs. Eileen Reifsnyder

  • DIED: December 9, 2017
  • LOCATION: Lynnville, Indiana

After a long battle with breast cancer, Eileen Nancy Reifsnyder, of Lynnville, IN, passed from this temporary life and into the eternal one promised by her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was being cared for at home by her husband and the wonderful staff of Heart to Heart Hospice when she was ushered into her heavenly home on Saturday morning, December 9, 2017.
Formerly from the New Haven, CT area, Eileen and her family moved from New England and into the rural life of Southern Indiana in 1993, finally settling into the small town of Lynnville. She was employed at various accounting firms and small businesses as a bookkeeper over the course of her life, but spent most of her later years being a full time wife, mother, and caregiver to her ailing mother.
Eileen thoroughly enjoyed sewing – her forte, fondly remembered by nieces, being young girls' nightgowns. She also loved cooking, baking, quilting, and gardening. Her hands and arms often bore the blisters of canning kettles and oven racks, the needle pricks of sewing and quilting projects, and scars from the sharp thorns of blackberry bushes reluctant to yield their fruit.
She loved cats and throughout her life always had at least one to keep her lap warm. She was well known for her good nature, happy smile and mischievous ways. Although transplanted into the quiet community lifestyles of the Ohio River Valley, Eileen's heart remained attached to the rocky shorelines of Maine where, since childhood, and in the shadows of lighthouses, she would wade the cold Atlantic tidal pools in search of crabs, clams, and perhaps even a stranded lobster.
Eileen was a faithful and loving wife to her husband, Jim, who nicknamed her Ladybug and gave her the email moniker of "Prov32woman" because he felt she exceeded the merits of the virtuous wife described in the Bible's Book of Proverbs, Chapter 31.
Eileen was a devoted mother to her four sons, loving and caring deeply for them, interceding for them, cheering them onward, and always remembering and remaining in contact with them after they left the home.
Since moving to Lynnville, she was a member of the United Fellowship Community Church, now located in Elberfeld, IN where, as her health allowed, she was active in church functions and outreach planning.
Eileen is survived by her husband of 32-years, James Reifsnyder of Lynnville; her four sons, Andrew (Pamela), Daniel (Barbara), Aaron (Kristin), and Stephen; her two brothers, Bruce (Rosie) and Brian (Cher) Woundy; and her two grandchildren, Peter and Sarah.
A time of visitation and remembrance will be held from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Pemberton-Bradley Funeral Home, 301 N. Main Street, Lynnville, IN 47619. Eileen's wishes to be returned to New England will be honored at a later date.
